It’s been forever since I posted. I have been crafting, but also playing quite a lot of the time-suck that is World of Warcraft.
After veste evereste, I cast on for the Ivy League Vest from Interweave. I’m using Knitpicks Pallette, and I changed up a few of the colors, naturally. I had gotten through the corrugated ribbing and through about 5 inches of the fair isle pattern when I got distracted. I was enjoying it very much, but started to get a bit frustrated when my felting between colors stopped working as well as it had in the beginning.
So I started Lizzie Kate’s Living with Charm series. I ordered a custom piece of belfast linen from Lucia’s Needlearts (I love that place! Priced by the square inch, you can get EXACTLY how much you need) and got started. It’s not my usual style… I tend to favor the fairies and dragons over the cutesy/inspirational. But I love the design and it’s fast! I’m currently working on the 7th word, which means I’m just a bit over 50% done.
I did work a little bit on Mother Earth… gah…. that design has a ridiculous amount of backstitching.
Then I started (and finished), the Ribbed Lace Bolero using Misti Pimi Cotton Silk. The yarn looks nice knitted up, but boy does it shed! Fuzz and fibers all over the place and I even started to feel a bit itchy and sneezy while knitting with it. I know i’m not allergic to even cotton or silk, so I guess it was just all the particles floating around in the air. Despite the simplicity of the patten, I had a few problems with the fit. I still think it’s a tad too big (and I had to seam the armholes more than the recommended amount), but DH thinks it’s fine, so I’m leaving it as is.
After RLB was off the needles, I started the Mirabella Cardigan from Interweave, using valley yarns Goshen. I LOVE this yarn. It’s soft, silky, and has a beautiful sheen, and stands up great to frogging. This is a pretty fast knit, the back is complete already. I’m not sure about the fit, I’m using a gauge of 4.5 spi, and knitting a size up. My row gauge is off at 6 rows/inch, so i’m making adjustments here and there, and hope it all works out in the end.
Last friday was my birthday, and among some lovely gifts, I got a new camera! Maybe some more pics for the blog….?
