First up is Mirabella. I’m knitting this in Valley Yarns Goshen, in the spring peach color. I love this yarn! It is smooth, shiny, and stands up well to frogging. I had a smaller gauge- 4.5 spi- so I knit a size up. The knitting has been done for a while. I finally went to get buttons and I found some perfect ones but unfortunately the store did not have enough. I will get more buttons, but I’m not sure when. I am also having some issues with the crochet finishing, so I’ll have to fudge the button loops a bit. It fits like a dream, however, and I am looking forward to wearing this one.
I just recently cast on for Green Gable…. I’ve had the yarn (Brown sheep cotton fleece in Lapis) in my stash for awhile. At first I was not enjoying the yarn very much, as it’s quite rough compared to Classic Elite cotton bamboo, which I just finished using for my last project. But now I really like the yarn and the fabric it’s creating is beautiful. I like it so much I ordered some Cotton Fine for a cute tank top in last summer’s Phildar mag. I did some pre-knitting math so Green Gable would have a bit less negative ease- I’m aiming for about 1.5″ neg ease in the bust. My one complaint is the knitting stockinette in the round is pretty boring, and I’m not sure top down raglans are really my thing. But there a few patterns I really like using this technique- Rusted Root, Puff Sleeve Cardi from Fitted Knits- and I will knit them someday.
