I really enjoyed knitting this. Though I am normally pretty cheap about yarn, this garment is small enough I was able to try a “luxury” yarn without breaking the bank. The yarn was gorgeous, silky, cool to the touch, though a tad splitty. I’m not sure the yarn is worth the price for anything much larger; shine sport would be an excellent substitute, though not as drapey. The pattern was easy to follow and simple enough to be fast while interesting enough to hold my interest. I loved knitting in the button placket, I’ve never used that technique before. It was very simple but fun to see it come together. The sleeves are done at the end using short rows…. I found it hard to truly hide my wraps with this yarn. The booklet, Make it Modern, is great and there are another 3 patterns in there I’ll may try someday.

I love wearing the top too. It can be dressed up or down, and it’s comfortable, soft, and cool. I also made the skirt I’m wearing in these photos- a long time ago…. it’s a stretch cotton sateen with some loose pleats and an invisible zipper in the back. I virtually always use invisible zippers in my sewing. Sorry for the wrinkles- I’d been wearing these clothes all day when the photos were taken.
