Today is my DH’s birthday! I love to celebrate this day because he’s the light of my life and I thank God for the day he was born. He asked for a red velvet cake, per the usual custom. I always use a recipe from epicurious, originally bon apetit. My mods to the recipe include an extra tbs of cocoa, and a buttercream frosting instead of cream cheese. Also, I skip the fruit between layers and on top. I tried doing a crumb coat of the white buttercream and it worked out really nicely- the finished cake looked quite neat.
