Last saturday, once my gathered pullover was blocking, I cast on for the riding to avalon hoodie from fall knitscene. I love hoodies and they are quite practical in that I often wear the hood up; this pattern caught my eye immediately. The original yarn, Lorna’s Laces, was too spendy so I subbed some
Elsebeth Lavold silky wool. It feels wonderful to knit with and the knitted fabric is tweedy and pretty. So, I cast on my 200 stitches in the round and knit 2 inches of a moebius strip. At a row gauge of 8 per inch, the frogging was painful. I’ve since recovered, but progress is slow. I’m hoping to have this finished by halloween. Here’s a pic of what I have so far- about 7 inches, I’m past the waist decreases. The color (taupe) isn’t exciting, but it will go with everything.
Lately, my stitching mojo (cross stitch) is calling me. Though I definitely have projects I should be
working on (goal-related, gifts, wips, etc), I went stash diving and kitted up a project for a new start. I have several cool halloween designs, but most are on the med/large side. I picked a small design called Haunt the Night Away, by Brittercup Designs. Here’s my floss toss. The fabric is Autumn Sunrise linen from Silkweaver. The design calls for hand dyed floss, but I’m subbing DMC since I think the variations of the floss may be lost on this fabric, which is pretty wildly variated already. I’ve prepared the fabric for mounting on my scroll bars and I’ll be starting this very soon, maybe today!
