This hat was superfast and fun, I started December 31st and finished a few days later.  I didn’t have any small needles handy, so I did the beginning ribbing on US 7’s.  The whole hat is rather large (on my small head) and it would be more secure if I did the ribbing on smaller needles, but it’s fine this way and doesn’t give me hat head.  I also did a long tail cast on, I didn’t think this required the extreme stretchiness of a tubular cast on.

The yarn was an impulsive purchase at Stitch DC, because it matched my new winter coat (which is actually a bit darker than it appears in these pics).  The yarn is very soft, with almost a felted texture as you knit with it.  My only issue, the yarn is 2 plys rather loosely spun and it was easy to mess up the twist of the yarn while knitting.  I solved this by holding the yarn looser and/or fiddling with the strand to fix the twist.  I may get another ball and knit some fingerless mitts to match.

This hat is my new favorite and now I’m definitely on a hat kick.  Hats= quick gratification!
