Valentines09

For this year, our 7th Valentine’s day together (egads, where has the time gone?!?) I baked my DH some cupcakes.  I used the recipe from Georgetown Cupcakes, found here.  Georgetown Cupcakes won the “Cupcake Wars” in the Washington Post, and IMHO has the best cupcakes available locally.  The recipe did not disappoint and I’ll definitely use it again.  The only thing is, they must be watched carefully…. they took a bit longer than 20 minutes to bake, but you have to be careful not to bake them too long, or they’ll dry out.  I tinted the icing pink and cut a heart-shaped stencil from some heavy paper, through which I sprinkled red sugar crystals.  The stencil worked out great, I think these cupcakes are really cute!  C consumed 2 cupcakes with almost alarming speed, so I suppose they got his approval.  I’ve been informed my Valentine’s gift is still in the mail… C ordered a Namaste Newport bag for me!

I have a few knitting FOs that need blogging, hopefully I can get some photos soon.
