Wisteria front

I love this sweater!  The style makes me feel like a druid priestess or perhaps a wood nymph.  It’s warm and cozy, and I think the kettle dyed WotA yarn is softer than some of the conventionally dyed WotA. (my biggest pet peeves with this yarn is the inconsistency of thickness and softness among the different colors and dyelots, but it worked out fine with this project). The third photo is the most accurate for color; the sweater is dark green.  I really wanted a semisolid yarn, but I also wanted an economic choice and I’m not very fond of superwash.

The pattern was great, well written with clear charts. I didn’t want 3″ of positive ease at the bust, which the smallest size would have given me, so I picked a yarn that could be knit at a tighter gauge. I was concerned that the turtleneck would be too tight, but I did the math and decided it would be fine. My row gauge was spot on so I didn’t have to change any of the spacing. I did shorten the sleeves, marginally, to 19″.   I used less yarn than expected, only about 1050 yds.

My only problem with the knitting was the one-piece construction.  I much prefer sewing a few seams to dragging a huge sweater around in its entirety.  The first sleeve took forever for this reason, but the second sleeve took only a few days, because I finally buckled down and figured it had been on the needles long enough.   The time investment was worthwhile; this sweater is super warm… it was just above freezing and quite windy when these photos were taken, but I was pretty comfortable.  I’m happy with this one and look forward to knitting more patterns from Twist Collective!
