Well, here’s a project I never bothered to photograph until after the fact. I bought the yarn at Aylin’s Woolgather’s anniversary sale, and only used a few yards of the second ball. I knit the smaller size, since I have a smaller head. I started on DPNS, which was massively annoying and I’ve since decided I need to invest in a set of 16″ circs. If Laura hadn’t been so kind as to lend me her 16″ size 6 circ, this project may have been frogged. Thanks, L! The yarn was super nice, and I have almost an entire ball left over, I must find something good to make with it… maybe some lacy mitts?
My real challenge with this project was in the blocking. It should have occurred to me that blocking a lace beret would be somewhat of a challenge. The problem is, the lace needs to be stretched/opened up during blocking, to show to full advantage, and it’s hard to stretch the entire hat evenly. All in all, I blocked this three times and I’m still not completely satisfied with it. But I did get a compliment from another knitter at my LYS, Uniquities, so I guess it’s ok, and hopefully this will be a good piece for transitional weather, and indoor wear.
