New WIP: Millefiori

Millefiori wip
Ok, this isn’t so new.  It’s been 10 days since I begun; I thought I might be short on yarn so I’ve been speeding to the finish (as if knitting quicker is going to use less yarn!)  It’s my favorite design from the new Interweave.  When Webs had Ella Rae Silkience on clearance, it seemed like a perfect match.  I LOVE knitting with this yarn.  It’s soft, has a great hand, and a nice twist.  The color is fabulous, a bright deep pink that makes me dream of warmer weather.

The pattern… eh.  I’m omitting the slip-stitch edges; this technique never works very well for me and I see no point in doing anything special for an edge that will be hidden in a seam.  I did short row shoulders, for a natural slant.  I knit the sleeves flat.  I left off the front bands entirely and will knit those separate and seam on later.  I will be swapping out the YO buttonholes for something for more stable, and skipping the knitted button attachment.

At first I really hated knitting the clam stitch, but it’s growing on me.  However, I saw a similar stitch on Ravelry (in crochet) that looked SO much better.  I do wish I knew how to crochet, beyond finishing the edges on my knitting….
