New WIP: Retro Jacket

Here’s my new project from the Classic Elite Johns Bay booklet.  I started this before even finishing Retrojac wip
the seaming on Millefiori, because I was sick of it after my speed knitting; impatient to see if I had enough yarn, I finished the knitting on that cardi in 12 days!  That was quite speedy considering the dk gauge, twisted 1×1 ribbing, clam stitch, and various bands.  But I digress, back to the retro jacket.  I decided to sub Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece for the Solstice, since it’s also a cotton/wool blend in worsted gauge.  The color is great, mariner, a dark blue-gray that proved difficult to photograph.  I am getting pattern gauge, albeit on 1 size smaller needles.  So, my gauge is 25 stitches & 8 rows/4″ in the twisted stitch cable patt on US 5.  This gauge does hurt my hands a little after prolonged knitting, but I love the way the fabric is working up, with some body, perfect for a jacket IMHO.  In the interest of keeping my hands healthy, I won’t be speed knitting on this!

I had a hard time deciphering the multi-size chart at first… until I realized oh right, you’re supposed to read WS rows left to right!  *head/desk*.  (The chart starts with a WS row).  Why do I always start new projects late at night?  Since then, it’s been easy, if slow, Retrojac wip2
going.  The back is done and I have a few inches on the left front.  Here’s a closeup of the twisted stitch cable pattern; those cables really pop!

In other news, Millefiori is finally done, washed, blocked, drying under the fan.  I’m hoping to get some FO shots this weekend, maybe with cherry blossoms…
