Here’s my latest project, Camellia. Despite the fact it’s on size 4 needles, the knitting is fast.
The lace is fun and not too taxing, while the stockinette is speedy. The pattern is well written. The only mods I’ve made so far are for length. I really don’t need this summer top to be 16.75″ inches from armscye to hem; as I’ve said before, I don’t believe it’s flattering when shirt hems hit my body where there’s the most junk in the trunk. Why call attention to it? So I knit the back to 6″ before starting the waist increases, and to 15″ before shaping the armscyes. I’m shaping the shoulders with short rows and will leave the stitches live for a 3 needle bind off.
The yarn, Sublime Soya Cotton dk, is wonderfully soft and lofty. It’s on the thinner side for a dk yarn and works great at sportweight gauge (6 stitches/inch). The yarn is about 8 plies with a moderate twist; I’ve found it to be just slightly splitty when knitting by touch alone. My only gripe is that 2 of the 3 balls I’ve worked with so far had knots. I find this annoying when the yarn can’t be spit-spliced, and also when it isn’t exactly cheap. By the way, the color is off in these pics. It’s actually much brighter, and more yellow.
