Debuting Primrose Path! This is a great sweater for spring or even summer when you need a little something extra under a cool breeze.
The pattern was well written and clear, as I have come to expect from Twist Collective. I did get bored with it, but that’s inevitable (for me) when knitting allover ribbing in the round. My only mod was to make it 2″ longer from hem to armholes, as 13″ just doesn’t cut it for me. Also, I think my row gauge was compressed. Fortunately I was able to try on the garment until it seemed long enough. So I continued the body lace pattern around the back a bit further before splitting the front and back.
The yarn was beautiful, a 50/50 cotton/tencel blend; it’s soft and silky with a slight sheen and saturated color which I think was aptly named (“meadow grass”). There was a small amount of shedding while knitting and wearing, and I might be worried about durability, but I went down a needle size and that should help. I got gauge on the 6’s, but the ribbing looked messy, so I went down to 5’s. Of course, that made my gauge a little small but I wasn’t concerned because I was knitting with minimal negative ease and expected the garment to stretch-to-fit. I found the yarn requirements overstated; I used 100 yds less than expected which was suprising since I added length.
I’m very happy with this knit; the asymetric pattern is an interesting detail and the cotton blend with open lace is appropriate for 3 seasons in the mid-atlantic.
