Here are a few projects I’ve been working on… most likely the last of my summer knits. I may start Apres Surf in a bit, but I don’t consider a long sleeve hoodie strictly summer. First up is the Tie Back Shell, my 2nd entry in the SKC’s 3q knitalong. It’s mostly done, but here’s an older photo…
I found the pattern quite boring, but it did go quickly and I love the result. Also, I adore the yarn, Elann Sonata in Victorian Grape, a beautiful dark mauve/purple. Making the project even sweeter is the fact I obtained this yarn via bag sale and the total yarn cost is under $8. I really like Sonata, my cherry top from last year has held up nicely and I suppose Sonata is my go-to dk weight cotton. It’s nothing fancy, but it has a durable cable construction and a nice sheen from the mercerization.
Next, the so-called Textured Vest in Tahki Sky from the Terra Collection 3rd Ed. It’s not a vest, it’s cap sleeved cardigan with a tie front. I got the yarn on closeout from Elann; it’s lovely, soft yet sturdy and the coffee brown color is divine. This is a very simple pattern, the back is just a rectangle, until you get to the shoulder shaping. Unfortunately progress is slow as the stitch patt involves a lot of 1×1 ribbbing, and my row gauge is tiny. Speaking of that, gauge is too small because I went down a needle size, liking the fabric better on 7’s. I may need to make a few mods to ensure a good fit….
Then there is my cotton fine tank top. No pictures, as right now it’s just a few small, crumpled peices of fabric. The knitting has been complete for weeks now, but there’s a lot of seaming and crochet finishing, and I’m having trouble finding the motivation…. Finally I’m starting another project for the SKC’s 3q knitalong, Broderie. Fellow members have created some beautiful versions and I’m excited to start mine, for which I ordered Shine Sport in Silver Sage. I think Shine Sport is a great yarn and though I rarely knit with neutrals, I find they get a lot of play in my wardrobe.
