So this was my first time knitting with Malabrigo, and I now understand the popularity.  Yes, even as I was winding up the yarn, I could tell that it would likely pill and fuzz, and knitting at loose gauge on big needles surely won’t help.  But the knitting was a pure tactile pleasure.  I don’t have any metal needles in size 11, so I had to use my old denise set (I don’t like knitting on plastic), and, without dpns, I had to magic loop the top of the hat (a technique I dislike), but even those factors didn’t diminish the fun of this fast, easy pattern in fabulous yarn.  The pattern is well written, too.

The finished project is pretty big (on my small head).  I blocked it with steam over a dinner plate, and I pat it down over the back of my head after I throw it on, which helps it slouch nicely.  The hat is so soft, it’s like wearing a cloud on my head, and it’s loose enough that it doesn’t mess up my hair.  However, it is necessary to hold it down occasionally, in high wind.  I love this hat and I do believe there will be a Malabrigo sweater in my future.

Wow, it’s beautiful! I love the colour you chose. My knitting instructor suggested this as a beginner knitting project but I’m having a hard time making the leap to knitting in the round. I’m in a stitching mode these days anyways, but seeing your finish makes me want to put this near the top of my list when I do get back to knitting!
