So, Ambrosia isn’t exactly new, but it was a blink-and-you-miss it kind of project. The knitting was done after a week; I’m not sure if I like the applied I cord trim around the neck, I may frog it and do something else, like single crochet. The pattern is cute, short and easy, but I modified the heck of it. First, I decided to knit at tighter gauge to create a hybrid size. Cascade Pima Tencel is a light worsted that I prefer to work at dk gauge. The yarn is very soft, with a tendency for some pilling and fuzzing, knitting it tightly helps control this. Also, I moved up the neck to be roughly even with the underarms, and added short row bust shaping. Oh, the yarn was acquired from Elann on closeout- this top cost a whopping $15 in yarn. I spent an additional $7 or so on ribbon for facing and hooks & eyes. I used 14 sets…. whew, that was a lot of sewing.
The second really is new, the Marigold sweater. My second project from the new Interweave!
I’m using Elann Bella, a light sportweight wool/cotton/viscose. I got gauge in the lacy stitch pattern on US 6’s, as the pattern calls for, and there’s nothing said re: using smaller needles for the ribbing, but I had to go down to 4’s so my ribbing would look neat. After a week, the back piece is finished. The fabric has a tendency to bias, not sure if this is due to the yarn or the stitch pattern, but I am confident that I can block it into shape.
