So, it’s all Hargreaves all the time, it would seem. In my defense, Hargreaves patterns, along with those by Marnie Maclean, are the theme of the current SKC KAL. Both of these projects are from Misty.
Sage is knit in Elann Coto-Merino, a limited edition dk weight, 70 cotton/30 merino. I’d say it’s more of a sport/fingering weight (I’m getting 6.5 stitches/”), and I’m loving the color, “delicate green”. The yarn is nice, very soft, however it doesn’t have much give and my hands get a bit sore with the cabling. I’m a bit worried about sizing with this…. I understand it’s meant to have positive ease and I figured that would be ok. I got gauge in my swatch, but the back piece seems big. The cabling really pulls in the width, so I’ll go with it. I do trust Ms. Hargreaves’ design aesthetic. This pattern is knit on US 3’s, and has a lot of 1×1 stitchwork, so it’s moving pretty slowly. No promises re: completion date, and I’m thinking it may be better for fall, in this climate, anyway.
Petal is knit in Bristol Yarn Gallery Lyndon Hill (85 cotton/15 silk) on US 2’s.
This yarn has been in my stash for at least 4 years, so hooray! It’s completely soft with just a hint of sheen from the silk. I thought about using beads in the cluster stitch pattern, as per the original iteration of this design in the erstwhile Summer Breeze collection, but eventually decided against it as I think it will be more wearable without. Also, I plan to get some fabulous crystal buttons for the sides, and I want them to pop against the fabric. This project is moving pretty fast, as it’s mostly stockinette.
