I am crazy excited about this project, I really love it!
The pattern is fine. I found a few of the shaping instructions a bit confusing, so I just did what seemed logical. I’m not complaining, because I do appreciate a pithy pattern. The bottom ruffle (37-ish 8-row repeats) is seemingly interminable, my advice would be to just power through it. I knit the back piece as per pattern, but on the front I switched out the k2tbl for ssk because I feel ssk is a better symmetrical match for k2tog.
Comfy, particularly in the fingering weight, is a really nice yarn. I’ve used it before and I still maintain that the yarn feels more like merino than cotton. It’s soft and squishy, easy to knit, and the synthetic content isn’t evident. The fabric is comfortable to wear on a hot summer day. I love the cool gray, it’s exactly what I wanted for this somewhat frilly design. The yarn’s color palette is gorgeous and the price is certainly right- the yarn for this top cost under $14! Dare I say, Comfy Fingering may be my new go-to summer yarn in this weight. The buttons are pearl, from G St.
Speaking of the weight, fingering weight tops, even little tees like Arielle, aren’t exactly quick knits. But I think it’s worth it. Arielle is so lightweight, comfortable and flattering. I love the pattern’s vintage vibe yet modern shape. This is my first project designed by Kim Hargreaves, but it definitely won’t be the last.
