Khaki Tank front
Cheers for transforming one of my oldest UFO’s into a wearable garment!  I believe that when I started this in 2008, I did not have quite enough patience to knit a fingering weight top.  I managed to finish the knitting in 2009, but it languished before seaming and crochet finishing.

Khaki Tank side
The pattern is fine; it’s in French.  The schematics are detailed and it was easy enough to translate.   There is no waist shaping, although the lightweight fabric drapes nicely.  The cable/lace pattern was fun, but the sea of stockinette was dead boring.  The tank is knit in four separate pieces- front, back, two sides, plus the sides of the placket must be seamed to the front.  The reason for this is the cable/lace pattern has a different gauge, I suppose.

Khaki Tank back
The yarn, Brown Sheep Cotton Fine, is a fingering weight cotton blend.  20% wool gives it a bit of stretch and recovery, though it feels rather stringy while knitting IMO.  The gauge is fine at 6.5 spi on US 3’s, but I preferred my swatch at 7.0 spi on US 2’s.  Blocking definitely improved the piece, the stitches bloomed and evened.  The finished fabric is soft, a bit drapey, and cool.  The color isn’t exactly what thought when I ordered online- IRL is less green, more tan.  I contemplated overdyng but it’s ok, I suppose.  The metal shank buttons are from Joann.

Khaki Tank three quarter
My favorite details of this top are the square neck, the front placket with its button loops, and the wearability: it’s lightweight and cool.
