Mainly cross stitching got my attention this past month (“Athena”, project no. 3).  My knitting mojo is low, and I did not feel inspired to participate in the Ravellenic games.   I only hope that my knitting activity sparks up when the weather cools.  In the interest of saving money and reducing our eco footprint, we try to “gently use” the utilities.  This means a rather warm house in the summer and (likely) a somewhat cold house in the winter.   A pile of wool on my lap may be helpful in a few months.

So, here’s my previous progress on Athena from the March full moon update:

This past month, I really pressed on, going few days past the full moon, but I finished the cross stitching.  Sorry for the medicore pic, the one above is more true for color.

All that remains now is the backstitching, which is fairly minor, and the beads (of which there are many).  All the little holes in the pic above are meant for beads.  I got a small organizer for my beads and resolved to stitch all with the same color floss (to match the fabric), so that should speed up the progress.  This next month, since there are two full moons, I plan to work on two projects.  I’ll do the backstitching on Athena and then work on “Woodland Enchantress”.  There is a real possibility of finishing that one!

Since I moved, I have much more wall space than I used to, and therefore more space for hanging my work!  I have so many stitchy plans for various rooms, and I’d love to start a new project but I’m trying to be choosy since cross stitch can be a lenghthy progress.  In addition, I have a few pieces that need framing, including Mirabilia’s “Mermaids of the Deep Blue”.  There’s a large, empty wall in my master bath that is just crying out for attention, and I have in mind a gallery of mermaids, starting with MOTB.  I recently ordered the fabric and pattern for Mirabilia’s Silver Moon Tea, which I think would be lovely for the kitchen.  There are two fireplaces in the house and I’d love to have some huge BAPs hanging over them.   My husband is very keen on that idea and when I spread out my pattern stash, he homed in Tereresa Wentzler’s “Fantasy Triptych”.  I love that pattern, and I have some fabric for it, but the list of colors is simply daunting, must be well over 200, many blends.    I’d love to do Mirabilia’s Maidens of the Seasons Part I & II together on one big piece of fabric.  That would be (in inches) about 16 x 22 on 32 count fabric or 18 x 26 on 28 count!  Oh well, I will decide after I’ve finished two (one more besides “Twas the Night”) projects off my WIP list.
