I’ve long admired this pattern and cast on April 1st, the first day of the SKC 2nd Quarter KAL (2012).

Unfortunately life events conspired to keep me from finishing and photographing for a while. The knitting on this was done quite some time ago, but I’ll try to reconstruct. The pattern is well written and free of errata. I added some waist shaping to the pattern because I prefer more fitted sweaters. The stitch pattern is a bit tedious, kind of like lace but without the open work. It is, however, easy to memorize.

Cool Wool is a 50/50 cotton/wool blend. It has 4 plies with a nice even, round twist. It’s really soft and has a bit of bounce from the wool. It feels wonderful to knit with and great against the skin. The fiber blend makes for a multi-season yarn here in the Mid-Atlantic. It was also great for a nice day in Oxford, England (where these photos were taken). The color is a clear, if slightly muted, spring green. I was so happy with the yarn, I felt compelled to buy more for another project. So much for stashdown…. I chose light blond wood buttons for the collar.

I’m very pleased with this sweater- nice vintage aesthetic with the boat neck and button detail.
