I’ve never had a birthday HD before, but that’s how this worked out; what a treat!

The fabric is hand dyed belfast linen by Silkweaver (old).  A nice, mottled, light aqua is perfect for Emerald in my opinion.  The fabric is pretty and I plan to frame with large borders (2.5″ each side), no mat.  As for the threads, I did not need 2 spools of Kreinik 009- less than 1 sufficed, actually.  I did break into my second pack of Mill Hill 3013 beads, however.  The beading is extensive; this mermaid has plenty of bling!

The pattern is ok, but it has a lot of errors.  I left some parts unstitched, because whatever was charted didn’t seem right.  Then I found these LiveJournal entries re: Emerald’s errata when I was partway though the beading. So, I frogged and redid some of the stitches.  Correcting all the errors didn’t take too long, about 1 hour, but I find so many errors to be annoying.  And would it be too much to post the errata on the designer’s website?  Despite my grumbling, I am very happy with this project, I think she is beautiful.

I’m hoping to frame this ASAP and hang with Mermaids of the Deep Blue in my master bath. The ultimate plan is to have a mermaid gallery with at least 5 or 6 works.
