I started this project because I wanted another Mirabilia in my rotation, I wanted to stitch something on dark fabric, and I want something to put on the walls in my bedroom. There is plenty of cross stitch all over my house, but not much in my bedroom, except for a small piece, which is not even hung on walls, just leaning against the wall atop a dresser.
Here is my floss toss on “Royal Shimmer” opalescent belfast by Silkweaver (old):

And progress after 3-ish weeks (fabric color more true above):

Middy is ~40% complete, I’d say. I love the effect of stitching on a dark, sparkly fabric (like I did for Royal Holiday), but it’s a challenge. The sparkles obscure the threads and I find myself counting via needle pokes rather than visually. It’s much easier with natural light and happily my lifestyle as a stay-at-home mom often affords opportunities for daytime stitching (during O’s nap). When he’s awake, forget it. He finds my lap frame “fascinating”. For an extremely active 15 month old, that’s not exactly a good thing! It seemed like we waited forever for him to walk. He was in the standing/crusing stage for around 6 months. Well, he finally took off walking and quickly advanced. Now he spends his days running around, seeking mischeif. I love my little “Captain Destructo”!
