A LNS, In Stitches in Alexandria, VA, celebrated their 20th anniversary and had a sale. It’s a bit of a drive for me, about 30 min, but they carry hand dyed fabric and the LNS closer to my house does not.  I was after something pretty for Mediterranean Mermaid- I already have the pattern and bead pack stashed.

And I found it!  30 count “blue jeans” linen by Weeks Dye Works.  I also picked up 4 Weeks Dye Works flosses, which I need for my Toil and Trouble WIP, and 9 Kreinink blending filaments, which are (optionally) required for TW’s The Castle- if you want to stitch the dragon up sparkly.  And I do.  Here is my WIP (previously, I worked around the dragon tail):

As for my current stitching, I worked on Midsummer Night’s Fairy.  She’s now about 75% finished. I’m glad I finished that back wing, as the some of the stitching with the metallic braid and blending filaments was pretty difficult.  Not all the threads play well together in combination.

Toil and Trouble got a turn on the scroll bars, it’s now done except for the beads, which are eyes for some of the critters.  I’ll wait a bit on the beads- but soon I’ll be happy dancing!

And I had to start my Mediterranean Mermaid.  After 10 days, I think she is about half done.  I’m missing some of the Kreinik, including one I need for cross stitching.  I hope to finish her this year, though.

Towards the end of the month, I brought out my Christmas Angel.  The backstitching in this pattern is insane!  I.e., every feather in the wings is outlined.  I persevered, then did all the beading and…. happy dance!  I am claiming $22 for this finish, which is a bit more than the amount in the finish grid, but I think the value is fair considering this project involved 3 spools of Krenik, 3 different colors of beads, and lots of speciality stitching for the details- it is very intricate.

Next month, I’m planning to buy some beads and metallics, which I need for a few of my WIPs.  I may also buy stash for a new project, something for my (newly painted) kitchen; I’m narrowing down my options.

You have some great WIPS. I live in Alexandria VA. I rarely get down to Route 1 though. Can’t wait to see more finishes.
