Here is Lizzie Kate’s Christmas by the Letter, stitched on 32 count raw linen by MCG textiles. The brass charms are my addition.

The white mat (from my stash) adds some dimension to this skinny (5″ wide) project. The mat borders are quite small though- 1.5″ and 1.25″ on the top side. The wood frame is a rich dark green, with wonderful dimension and light distressing on some of the edges and grooves.

The framing was a bit of a challenge because I didn’t have much “edge” fabric to work with, on the top side anyway. And there’s a small seam at the bottom, right above my initials. That was a function of buying cheap linen at Joann that wasn’t cut square to begin with. Never again, will I buy cheap fabric; it’s not worth it! Anyway, this hangs in my living room, in Words to Live By’s usual spot.
Here is Joan Elliott’s Christmas Angel, stitched on 32 count opalescent “Winter Skye” lugana from Silkweaver (old).
The outer mat is dark green suede, a little touch of luxury for this highly detailed and elegant angel. Suede mats are pricy but they definitely create a special finish! The inner mat is gold metallic (from my stash), which picks up some of the warm sparkle in the piece, like the gold beads of her halo. The frame is antique silver, with raised relief floral detail and champagne accents. This hangs in my living room, in another angel’s usual spot.
Costs for these 2 amounted to $125. Some of the mats, foamcore, etc were stashed. And with that, my to-be framed cache is quite small, 7 pieces remain, of which 2 are small and 3 are medium. For 2016, my framing priorities will include the 2 smalls (nautical pieces for my guest bath), and Mediterranean Mermaid.
