I stashed this pattern years ago, since I like the verse (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)… it was a reading at my wedding.  And then last year, we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary, so I figured… well it’s about time I stitch something to celebrate our marriage!  My plan is to add an additional section with some of our wedding details at the bottom.

I’m stitching on 25 count vintage white lugana, with Gloriana silk floss, 1 over 1, full cross.  The fabric is interesting, with sort of a hand dyed effect, but only on one side.  I guess it’s printed.  This is my first time (successfully) using 25 count fabric and stitching over 1.  Actually it’s much easier than I expected, given my previous experience.  A long time ago, I tried doing 2 over 1, full cross on 25 ct fabric (as advised by Heaven and Earth Designs) and it did not work out for me (too much thread, too dense, etc).

This project is going faster than I expected.  There are only 2 colors and some of the patterns are simple repeats, so I don’t need to reference the chart constantly.  I love how the two colors of silk (crimson & pumpkin) look in the border and decorative elements.  However, I don’t like pumpkin as the first letter of the words (the P & K) – too pale.  So, I have ordered another 2 shades of Gloriana that will hopefully be darker (antique gold dark and copper) and will use whichever of those I like better.   And I’m still holding out for a highly variegated (with red /orange/ yellow) for the big capital L (upper left corner).  I will need need to pick that out in person, though.
