My 2nd Celtic lady is finished! I am thrilled.

The fabric is a fat quarter of cream linen by Zweigart. I think she looks wonderful and “pops” on this light color, but I had rework the candle colors a bit- the lightest color disappeared into my fabric, so I used a darker tone as my lightest and adjusted accordingly. My other mod was subbing Rainbow Gallery PB01 for the DMC284Z (gold metallic). 284Z is easily obtainable (you can buy it at Michaels’); that is the only good thing I can say about it. It was awful, bunching and shredding as I tried to stitch. I soon gave up and frogged. The Rainbow Gallery PB01 was in my stash (and recommended here) so I used that. I like to use petite treasure braid double stranded for good coverage on 14/28 count, but it does eat up the yardage on the card(s); I used about 3 cards.

This pattern is fine, easy to read and I love all the rich reds. The project really isn’t that much work. She only had 3 rotations on the scroll bars since I started in 2013 (my rotations are generally a week or so). Finishing her off with a little bit of cross stitch, backstitching the border, and all the beading, took about 2 days this year. The beading was quite extensive: 1,250 beads on this sparkly lady. I remember the beading taking forever on my Celtic Spring, but that was long ago. Beading goes much quicker now- I use a thread to match the fabric and a tacky bob case to hold the beads.

Next in the Celtic Lady series will be Autumn with the orange/green color conversion, but that may not be for awhile. I have another new start planned soon (something for the MIrabilia Minions retreat mystery box) and plenty of WIPs that need attention.
