I started The Spirit of Christmas, by Lavendar & Lace, during Stitch Maynia.  I was able to finish most of the bottom left quadrant of the chart over 4 days.  This part stitched up quickly with a many long bands of color.  The fabric is “Dwarf” belfast, by Picture this Plus.  It’s a cold, mottled grey-blue and Santa’s colors pop on it!  (Fabric color more true in top pic)

This project is so much fun.  Between the lovely Christmas colors and ease of stitching, it is quite a treat.  The pattern is not large, about 10.25″ square (or round) so I decided a fat 1/8 of 32 count fabric would suffice.  It does, with a modest framing allowance of about 1.5″ on the two sides.   Spirit of Xmas WIP 7-28-16

I gave him another week on the scroll bars for Christmas in July.  I started with white, as there is a lot of it.  I don’t mind stitching white, at least not when the background is a different color. I worked on the bottom half and upper right of the chart, those areas are mostly complete.  I’ll need to go back to stitch the candle flames, metallics, and a bit of the wreath/ribbon near the top center.  The next time I work on this will be during the Stitchylympics; I will try to put in the candle flames and maybe do a bit more.  Finishing this year would be possible, but I’m not in any rush for this one.

Those reds really do pop out against the blue fabric, it’s a great choice. And it makes the white easier too. I usually leave white until last so it doesn’t get dirty from handling.

I absolutely love this one! I meant to comment on the video how in real “video” life the white in his sleeves looks amazing – just pops off that blue fabric!
