Just after September’s full moon, I worked on my Love with a Capital L. Previous progress:
2 days later:

Finally, the bottom border! My extra section (personalization) is in progress. And I’ve decided to do the big capital L (top left) with the crimson silk floss (main color). I am really loving this project now that I see it finally coming to fruition.
I started a new project, Aphrodite.

I’m loving this and her tail stitched up really quickly! Details blogged here.
3 days were spent backstitching Earth Goddess. The bottom half of the chart is now ready for beads!

The next time this comes up in my rotation I will alternate cross stitching her upper body with the vine backstitching detail around the circle. I estimate the vine will take another 8 hours.
Then I started Gigi and spent 3 days on her, progress blogged here .
I am planning to work on her again this month, at least another week. She is perfect for Halloween.
The last day of the month, I completed my first felt applique project of the year- two ornaments.

These are from a Bucilla kit. They turned out pretty cute! Materials are included for another two ornaments (identical to the two shown)…. which I’ll probably make next year or maybe this year if I feel so inspired.
The first weekend in October, I worked on 12 days of Christmas. Then I picked up Donner with the intention of finishing. After 4 days, almost ready to begin backstitching, I ran out of ice blue kreinik. Though I ordered more and later finished up the kreinik, my momentum was interrupted. Progress on both is blogged here.
After my frustration with being unable to finish Dancer in a timely fashion, I finished Angelina!
I will fully finish her as an ornament by December.
Celtic Autumn got a turn on the scroll bars. Previous progress:

After 6 days:

Her bottom half is finished (excluding beads and metallics), which was my original goal for this year. The border(s) on the top half also got a bit of attention. I am planning to work on her more next month, if time allows.
Question of the Month:
What online stitching communities do you enjoy?
Well, the blogging community is an old favorite. And I love being able to look at my old entries to see what I was up to years ago.
More recently, I love Flosstube. It’s a very active community and there is a lot of back and forth as people post comments, respond to comments, and suggest tags (ie, lists of questions for others to answer). You definitely get an idea of people’s personalities from their videos and there are many with whom instant friendships would form if we were ever to meet. Most importantly, from Flosstube, I’ve met a real life friend who only lives a few miles away and we meet regularly for stitchy time!
In the next lunar cycle, my plan is to work on Gigi, then embark on the Election SAL with Stitch Maynia (daily rotation challenge) beginning October 25. As November begins, my focus will be on finishing Love with a Capital L.
