I chose to do a little crazy January, 5 day rotation of 3 new starts plus WIPs.
King Arthur’s Court by DMC was my new year new start. After 5 days, I had stitched most of Guinivere’s dress and Lancelot’s legs. I am adding fractionals so the backstitch lines will be neater. This is on 32 count antique white jobelan and I am enjoying it so much. Don’t you love it when you find a project that makes you want to chuck your rotation?

After that I started Titania by Mirabilia on 32 count opal lugana in the Sparkling Sundown color from Silkweaver (old), a peachy color. I considered starting Stargazer, but I opted for Titania because both the fabric and pattern were very deep stash- over 10 years! Plus, I want her as a companion for Middy. After 5 days, I had finished a large chunk of her skirt. I’m loving this pattern. Though pink is not my favorite, the color progression is gorgeous.

Then I mixed it up with a WIP- Summer Bellpull. It took 6 days to finish the R block, with the exception of a DMC variegated that I don’t have in my stash and is only available at Michaels’ in a big combo pack (which is way more than I need). This project is very close to finished now. There is backstitching to be done, in each block, but it’s not too extensive. I am hoping to finish by March.

Then I worked on Earth Goddess. Previous progress:

After 4 days, I had stitched most of her skin (lots of fractionals), some of leaf vine over her shoulders, and started the hair. She looks a little funny without lips or eyes but I’m happy with the progress. I will work on her the last few days of January and try to finish in February, so I can start Fire Goddess.

My last new start was Tree Farm by Mill Hill on 28 count stormy grey jobelan. I am loving this fabric, vastly preferable to perforated paper IMO! This is actually the beginning of a BAP (12 of these Christmas Village kits stitched together on the fabric), but I’m considering each kit a separate start, in terms of my rotation. I’d rather have 1 small finish than a BAP 8% done! After 6 days, it is almost ready for beading. There were will many, many beads in about 6 or 7 colors. The design is pretty solidly stitched & beaded and it takes longer than you might expect for a small project (5″ square). I’m adding a snowflake border in Kreinik.
Oh, on the 25th, I started, and finished, and ornament. Will blog soon. I will try to do 12 ornaments this year though I may skip February since it’s a short month.
Finally, I spent a long evening on Maiden & Unicorn. Previous progress:

With over 400 stitches later (mostly fractionals), I completed most of the border on the left side, above the gryphon. 3 shades of green and so many tiny quarter stitches on the 36 ct Edinburgh. This one will require a lot of effort to finish this year, and the backstitching is extensive. Maybe I should do some backstitching before I proceed.

Question of the month: What SALS are you participating in this year? The WIPocalypse of course! The Year of WIPs via Soulful Stitchers and Stitch from Stash, both on FB. The Mill Hill project above is being done as a SAL with a few friends (just 4 of us so far). Also I’ll participate in many daily, weekly, and monthly SALs with various FB groups (I am a member of too many!)
My plans for February include Earth Goddess & hopefully a new start on Fire Goddess, as mentioned, plus Aphrodite, Snowman Stocking, and Tree Farm. I may start Winnie the Pooh II on Oliver’s birthday, which is February 10th. He loves Winnie the Pooh. We’ll see how I feel about my WIP count at that point, which is currently 9, or 10 when I bring my Snowman Stocking back from the UFO pile.
