May 1 started Stitch Maynia!  I made 5 starts and worked on 10 wips.  The new starts include Cookies for Santa by Sue Hillis, Bright and Beautiful by Lesley Teare, Seraphina by Mill Hill, I am a Stitcher by Cherrywood Design Studio, Father Christmas by Sandy Orton for Leisure Arts.

The last day of Maynia started a 6 day rotation on the Castle.. and that was just enough time to….finish!

After that I rotated to my Mill Hill Christmas Village and worked on the Toy Shop plus the top border.

I was able to start beading Toy Shop and 5 of the 8 bead colors are completed.  I’m not sure about the red beads spelling out “Toy Shop”… I feel like it may be too crowded and a bit muddy looking.  I might rip it out and redo with petite (size 15 beads).  This is 28 ct fabric, in theory the same size as 14 ct perforated paper, but the fabric is really just a bit smaller.  For example, 2 over 2 works fine for coverage on the fabric.  3 over 2 is better for the paper.  It won’t take long to finish this when I bring it out next month, perhaps just a day or two.

I spent 2.5 days on Winnie the Pooh, did about 800 stitches maybe, blogged here.

Finally, I’ve spent 2 days on Dasher so far… I managed to complete the border though I subbed one of the silk threads and worked more on the background pattern in Kreinik #4 braid color 1432 (icy pale blue).  I do intend to keep working on him for a few more days and try to finish this month.

Question of the Month: Which designer’s projects do you absolutely love, but are too intimidated to try?  I do absolutely love Chateleine’s Irish Mandala, but I am intimidated by the cost- $375 for the full kit plus $40 for the pattern.  I’ve looked at the components and not sure I would able to kit it up myself for much less, if at all.  That is a lot of money to plunk into one project before even framing!  It is beautiful though.  Perhaps for my next “landmark” birthday- 2020.

My plans for June revolve mostly around Whine & WIPs, my favorite of all the Stitch Maynia SALs.  My “whine-inducing” projects include Maiden & Unicorn and Fall Fairy.  Each of those projects will get a week’s rotation though the 7 days might not be consecutive.  I will also try to rack up a few finishes, like Dasher, Toy Shop, and possibly another.  My WIP count currently sits at 14 and that is just a few too many for me.

Great work on all your projects this month, many are close to a finish. I agree about the red beads, it is hard to read toy. Maybe in person it is easier though. See you next month and on Flosstube!

Congratulations on your Happy Dance for your dragon, she looks amazing! Love the sparkle that you added.
I agree that the beads look unclear and petite will probably look better. Especially if you use a similar coloured thread to attach them.
    Dasher is looking good too.
