After the last check in: at the end of June I eked out several full finishes and worked on I am a Stitcher for 5 days, but let’s get to the July stitching!  My rotation is off the rails again…

I started Christmas in July with Cookies for Santa on July 1st.  It took 2.5 days and I finished.

I worked on Fire Goddess 4 days, finished the stitching on the skirt, backstitched the skirt, in dark brown.  There is more backstitching to do in Kreinik, but I’ll do that later.  I started working on the wrap too. IMG_6700

In the 2nd week of July, I rotated to Snowman Stocking.  6 days later, I finished!

By the 3rd week of July, I was feeling a little tired of the Christmas stuff, so I decided to split up the week.  I gave 2 days each to King Arthur’s court, Charmed Santa, and Titania.  King Arthur’s court received some attention with the red on Arthur’s shield and Merlin’s fancy dress… er, robes. I stitched the lower part of his beard, purple robe, long drapey sleeve lined in gold, and the beginning of his blue cape.  I also stitched the the inner border line and some of the wallpaper pattern.

Charmed Santa got some effort on the bottom left quadrant.. basically I tried to fill in, starting with the center bottom.  This guy has so many color changes, which you may get an inkling of, based on all the parked threads.  I created a thread card for the blends and worked with a few of them.  The blends are very subtle, giving a hand dyed effect.

Titania’s love went towards the dress, sash, etc at the bottom and what my friend Joanne D. refers to as the “lobster claw”.

Then I started a new project, Bookseller by Mill Hill.  3 days was enough to finish the cross and back stitch.  Beading will take longer, though.  I’m not crazy about the colors but the beads will jazz it up.

On the 25th, I started (and finished) a new ornie… which will be blogged sooner or later.

After that, I gave Winnie the Pooh 2 days, progress blogged here.

Question of the Month: What are your oldest and your newest WIPs?  My oldest WIP is the long suffering Maiden & Unicorn, which I started in 2007 and put away shortly thereafter in a fit of pique (I chose the wrong fabric for this pattern).  In April 2016, I rescued it from the WIP pile have worked on it 34 days since then.  I should be able to finish it this year.  My newest WIP is Bookseller, pictured above.

My plans for next month include Fire Goddess, focus to finish.  I will also work on King Arthur’s Court and Fall Fairy.

After seeing your Joan Elliot pieces, I must stitch them. The pictures do not do them justice at all and seeing yours has made me a fan.
I can’t really say what my oldest wip is as I didn’t track the start date and finish date until last year. I hate that I didn’t all this time I have been stitching. My most recent wip is the American Sampler by Little House Needleworks. I just started it last week.
