2017 is winding down, friends. I’m trying to figure out my stitchy plans for next year; perhaps I am stretched a bit thin this year.
At the end of September, I worked on a secret stitch, which I managed to finish, and started the Trick or Treat Fairy, on 32 opal belfast in “Midas Touch” by vintage Silkweaver. Thank you to everyone who encouraged me to start this one, she’s a lot of fun so far! 5 days of progress and I stitched most of the skirt.

My rotation got off to rocky start in October. Events conspired to complicate my plans. In that first week, I mainly worked on Titania and I Am a Stitcher, which I was able to finish in 3 days.

Previous progress on Titania:
5 days progress; however it wasn’t the most productive rotation since I was I was under the weather and knitting seemed like a better pursuit than stitching. Though perhaps not since miscrossed cables required later sweater surgery. Oh well, I digress.
I stitched most of the left wing, except for the top bit (had to frog). The “filler” pattern is crossed stitched with one ply of silver blending filament. I can’t say that was much fun but it does create a lovely dynamic effect. I started with the pink kreinik #4 braid, highlights on the wing and also all next to her skin. I ran out of steam; besides I want to stitch the DMC skin first. I also started on the right wing, just 2 colors so far.
On Friday the 13th, I picked up King Arthur’s Court which was a major rotation goal for the month. Previous progress:

After 5 days, I managed to finish the full coverage section with the castle, extend the left border a bit, and stitch a little on Arthur’s shield and armor, to bring him up past the midline of the chart.
I was hoping to work up to the left corner, alas it was not to be. This project will likely to be a carryover into 2018, unless I feel really inspired to stitch on it in December.
After that, I started Mill Hill Apothecary, another piece on my village, blogged here.
Fall Fairy, Maiden & Unicorn, and Winnie the Pooh got 2 days each.

I managed to finish page 2 on Fall Fairy. I needed a page finish for Stitch from Stash credit! I had left leftover skin tone threads from her hand so I went back to page 1 and stitched some of her neck and face (which still isn’t quite complete). This piece is coming along and I hope I can squeeze in a few more days next month.
Maiden and the Unicorn got some progress on the last of the border (upper right corner). I completed the blues (background), the brown vine, and the green leaves.
Winnie the Pooh II is still in progress as of October 29th.
Question of the month: How did you begin stitching?
My first projects were tent stitch on plastic canvas, dimensional things like tissue box holders (cringe) if memory serves, when I was a small child. My mom and I did many crafts together in my youth. I graduated to small counted cross stitch kits and eventually the Dimensions Gold collection. I stitched a bunch of those before I realized there was a wider world of designers, charts, fabric, etc. Thank you, worldwide web!
My (immediate) future plans involve finishing my sewing project, my son’s Halloween costume, by the 31st, of course, or sooner. If I have any hobby time aside from that at the end of the month, I may do some framing, stitch on Trick or Treat Fairy, work on home decor projects, and/or finish my sweater project which is at the seaming stage. In November, my focus projects will be Titania and Maiden & Unicorn. I also plan to start Enchanted Mermaid for “Mervember”. In theory, starting another large Mira will light a fire under me to finish Titania. We shall see. A new knitting project is also on the docket.
