Well, my 2018 sampler stitch is done, a lot earlier than planned, but when you have the momentum, why deny it?

The pattern is fine, well done, with lovely details. There is a fair amount of backstitching, and a hefty dose of metallic stitching: one strand DMC plus 2 strands blending filament. I subbed Kreinik BF for the Rainbow Gallery Glissen Gloss since the former was easier to get my hands on. It stitches quickly since the prayer is mostly just backstitch. I really like most of the details, and how they correspond with the sections of the verse.

The shafts of wheat turned out lovely. The sheep are super cute, with a few fractional stitches on their heads.

The sparkly crowns were fun, as were the wee lions. The dove, the bird of the peace, at the top, is beautiful with some sparkle of her own. I made one sub- as charted the lion eyes are blank (empty) stitches. I thought it looked weird so I did french knots with 2 strands of 3371.

The fabric was fine, rather dense as monoco is. I didn’t know it was monoco (Stoney Creek lists it as “evenweave”), but it worked alright for the pattern. I love the aged parchment feel of it and I like that is all cotton. This could be an heirloom piece, timeless in a way.

With that, I’m down to 11 wips. I’ve got a long way to get down to 5 by the end of the year!
