May was a long crazy month with Maynia, visits from friends and family, travel & a retreat, a birthday, and holiday weekend!
Maynia is a serial starting/daily rotation event with the Stitch Maynia FB group. I started 6 charts and worked on 9 WIPs to rotate 15 projects throughout May 1-15. My new starts included Riolis Bird of Happiness, Penguin Ornie by Stoney Creek, We Do Disney by Stitchline (my color conversion), Gingerbread Cottage ornie by Mill Hill, Eek/Creepy by Lizzie Kate, and the May mini mandala by Broduese Bressane. The ornie projects were finished in a day or two during Maynia and I’ll share them again when I fully finish, before Christmas, hopefully!

I also worked on every single one of my older WIPs (9 total), but in some cases the projects only got an hour or so, so progress photos will wait.
Spooky House got a day to itself, and I managed to get page 1 just about finished.

That was pretty exciting because this page (of 6) is the most densely stitched, with the most detail, I think. I feel like the rest of the project should be easier. Though I still haven’t done any backstitch and there is more stitching to do with different shades of Kreinik. I hope I will be able to finish the bottom half of the piece by October (when I will temporarily retire it until 2019), we shall see.
After Maynia, a few projects got more attention, including the Lord’s Prayer, which I finished.

I also worked on St. Nic’s Cathedral, 3 days, which was not quite enough time to finish. This piece is more heavily beaded than any of the others I’ve done.
Enchanted Mermaid got some time at the retreat too, but this post has enough pictures and progress was minimal. Winnie the Pooh gets a few days at the end of month, but that is still in progress.
Question of the month: Where do you love to shop for stash? Well, my new favorite place to shop may be Needleworker’s Delight in Metuchen, NJ. I was lucky enough to attend the Flosstube Retreat in New Jersey earlier this month and visit the shop, which was nearby the hotel. I spent over 2 hours there! Leisurely shopping is not typically my MO. But Needleworker’s Delight is large, with a selection unlike I’ve ever seen at a shop (lots of old and OOP along with new stuff), several trunk shows, countless gorgeous models… it’s pretty special. I’m hoping to return this fall for a designer class.
As the month ends, I’m finishing my rotation on Winnie the Pooh and then I have 4 bonus days, which are still TBD. June is Whine and WIPs, perhaps my favorite Stitch Maynia SAL, plus the Finish it Up SAL in my group, Stitch from Stash. My biggest whine is Fall Fairy, so that will be my primary focus. Other focus pieces will include Enchanted Mermaid and Water Goddess. As for finish goals, that will include St. Nic Cathedral and Boo Club Eek/Creepy.
