I’m pleased to share my favorite of all the Christmas village buildings so far!

The pattern is fine, rather simple.. with only about 10 colors, it stitches up quickly. It’s more heavily beaded than any of the others so far, though. Beading took longer than stitching. The crystal lilac beads fill in the stone “blocks” on the cathedral. They catch so much light, it’s amazing, really beautiful in person. I did make a few modifications to the chart, like the trees on the top, I “pruned” a bit off the top and to give a little space around the cross. I did the green bead swags in my usual manner with a tacking stitch to create the draped shape.

I love how the skinny towers on each side give the illusion of height.

This kit included 5 colors of Kreinik #8 braid, which were used in the stained glass windows. The cross is my probably my favorite detail, it’s small but very effective, adorning the roof with the bright gold beads.

The shrubbery is lush and I love the steps leading up the inviting red door. Cathedrals are a particular favorite of mine… whenever I’m in Europe or certain cities in the States, I seek out the cathedrals. They are magnificent and inspiring.

I’m glad that this one is near the center of my village (or what will be the center when it’s done). Next up will be either the Needlework Shop in the top right corner or the Bakery next door to St. Nicolas Cathedral. I’ll start next month… I enjoy Christmas in July very much and I hope to give the village lots of time.
