Maynia week 1 was a whirlwind, sort of a controlled chaos. Perhaps the daily rotation thing is less of a challenge since I’m used to pulling out projects for an evening for challenge prompts. The week included 2 new starts and 5 WIPs… 7 down, 8 to go!
On May 1, I made my first new start, Harvest Witch by Stoney Creek, from “Ghostly Treats” book #349, on 28 count cashel “Lapis Lazuli” by Silkweaver. The chart is really deep stash, actually the first line of my stitchy spreadsheet. So I worked on it over 4 days (2.5 stitchy days) and got 1,787 stitches.

I started in the center with the wheat and am working towards the bottom left corner. I adore this piece and wonder why it took so long to start her. As far as Stoney Creek patterns go, it’s not bad at all (yet), though I am working around several blended floss colors (I’ll do those later). The finished size will be 10.25″ x 11.25″, so not huge.
My other new start is Lemonade by Sapphire Mountain Handcrafts, a freebie via Instagram, on Scuppernog 32 linen by Weeks Dye Works. I gave it 1.5 days and did 1,569 stitches.
I’m really enjoying this one, and it’s almost done, but I opted to rotate early because I need this one for a SAL in a few months. Silly? Perhaps. But I don’t mind having a 95% finished WIP hanging around. It’s good to know I could finish it easily with a thread or 2.
Several older WIPs also got some love, about 1/2 day each for Save the Stitches, Fairy of the Rainbow, Father Frost & Polar Bear, and Twilight Bridge. Collectively, I amassed 1,595 stitches on these 4.

On the 7th day of Maynia, I had some “extra” time since I retired Lemonade early. TW Celtic Cross was my focus. I did over 800 stitches, including lots of couching and working with 2 different metallics, but it’s not quite finished. More backstitching is required, then lazy daisies, and finally some beads.

Overall, the first week of Maynia went well. I adore my new WIPS, and my total stitch count was 5,754!
Happy Maynia
