The second week of Maynia started with a little boost- a finish on my TW Celtic Cross! It required 1,273 stitches over 1.5 days.
Then it was time for my third start of Maynia, the American Eagles ornament by Mill Hill. This is a tiny chart on perforated paper as kitted. Over 1 stitchy day I did 324 stitches and finished the cross stitch and the (minimal) backstitch. So now it’s ready for beading, which will be in 6 colors and the plan is to finish it in July.

On May 10, I made my fourth start, the Gryphon kit by Riolis on the gorgeous printed Zweigart Aida from the kit. I can’t get over the magestic mountain vista. There are many blended colors, some colors use 2 strands, and others use 3.

Over the 4 days (2.5 stitchy days), I did 1,657 stitches. I started in the center, in the wing, and worked a single color down to the hind leg & claws, then I stitched the shadow underneath the beast in various blues, purples, and grey. I did a bit of the yellow on the front leg, love how he’s gripping the edge of the cliff. I finished a large chunk, the hind leg up from the claws. The body is various shades of brown so I’ll be glad to get that part out of the way.

Finally, on May 14, I made my final start of Maynia, Comet by Nora Corbett.

Over 1.5 days, I did 1,006 stitches. I started with the reds for a particular challenge and then tried to get a good start with 2 of the browns, DMC 839 & 420. This photo is shadowed but at least you can see the opalescent sparkle in the dark area. It occurred to me this is a very animal centered Maynia for me. 4 of my 5 new starts feature animals (cat, eagle, gryphon, reindeer). Funny how it worked out that way.

I also worked on 6 WIPS throughout the week. One day I did a crazy rotation with 3 wips + Gryphon. Overall, I did 1,962 stitches on older WIPS.

Overall, it was a good Maynia, I stuck to the plan, added 5 wips, all of which I’m very pleased with, to my rotation, and made good progress on a few WIPs, even a finish on Celtic Cross. New start fatigue weighed me down towards the end though. For the rest of the month, I intend to focus on Rapunzel and do some model stitching. Overall, I did 11,176 over the 15 days of Maynia and I consider that a big win!
