2020 WIPocalypse: May

May was a long crazy stitchy month with over 21k progress!

I started with Stitch Maynia, my personal spin on it, which is new starts + wips (15 total) over the first 15 days in May.  So I made 5 new starts, including American Eagle by Mill Hill, Lemonade by Sapphire Mountain Handcrafts, Comet by Nora Corbett, Gryphon by Riolis, and Harvest Witch by Stoney Creek.IMG_4903I also worked on all my WIPs, most with minimal progress, but a few WIPs got extra time and love.  Gingerbread Grove got 1.5 days and 1,641 stitches, on the last 2 pages of the chart, with special attention to the color red, since I needed that for a challenge.  BEEC9DC4-5092-4FF5-AB70-2C56C9EB3005

Twilight Bridge was also needed for a particular challenge.  I gave it 1.75 days and 1,226 stitches, working the upper left quadrant towards the midline.

Fantasy Triptych got 1.5 days and 1,076 stitches, just the background sky around the castle.

After serial starting Maynia, I decided to go a monogamous stretch on Rapunzel.  Previous:

Rapunzel WIP 4-25-20First I backstitched the bottom, which was quite extensive, metallic gold highlights on her hair and curtain borders & detail, metallic green for the floral pattern at the bottom of her skirt, and dark brown for the rest.  It was about 1500 backstitch.  Then I worked on the upper half, the tree outside and the window frame, curtain rod, the huge curtain & window to her right.

Overall, she got 11 days and 6,420 stitches.  I’m quite pleased with how she looks on the Heather Belfast by Picture this Plus.  Hopefully I can finish next month in 5 days or so.  All that remains is Rapunzel’s upper body, the bluebird, a little on the top of the window frames, and backstitching on the top half, of course.  Then beads.

Finally, towards the very end of the month, I wanted to keep playing Stitchopoly with the Semisane stitchers (FB) but none of my WIPs were calling.  Instead, I decided to make a new start for “Alphabet Soup K”, another Semisane event.  I started Santa’s Hat & Boots by Keslyn’s (Just Cross Stitch 2018), on white opalescent Cashel.  My first complete project stitched 1×1 on 28 count, It took 2 days & 1,914 stitches.  It’s done except for the embellishment (sticky gems).

Question of the month: tell us about a piece you completely loved stitching. I suppose that would be Rapunzel.  Joan Elliott is my favorite designer, Belfast is my favorite fabric, and I found the perfect color in “Heather” by PTP.  It’s not diffcult to stitch on either. Plus, the colors in her dress are some of my favorites.

I have big plans for June, with two of my fave SALs, Whine & WIPs (Stitch Maynia) and Finish it up (Stitch from Stash).  Here are my goals:

•Finish Rapunzel (Finish it up SAL)

•Focused Rotations on Fantasy Triptych, Twilight Bridge, & Save the Stitches (Whine & WIPs)

•>2k stitches on the Gryphon

•>1 k stitches on Cathedral Woods Goddess

•Framing/ finishing 6 pieces

Happy Stitching

Wonderful work for Maynia. The Twilight Bridge is so close to a finish now.
Rapunzel looks good after all the time spent with her. I stitched the Teresa Wentzler version many years ago, it’s still a favourite of mine.

What a fun month with all the new starts! Rapunzel looks great with all the detail added to her skirt and the curtains.
