September was a pretty good stitchy month, though I did not meet all my lofty goals, instead succumbing to the new start pressure of the Go Stitch! game with Semisane Stitchers…. oh well, more about that later.

As for my focus pieces, Christmas Blue Angel only had a day, but I managed 1,800 stitches! That was wild. I stitched her robe, bodice, sleeves, and started the wings. She remains my favorite wip and hopefully I can do extra in October.

Poltergeist Pirates received 3 days love, and 3,000 stitches update! I worked on the moon, the masts, the sails, and a ghost. I love the face in the moon, he’s so cute and it’s the perfect magical touch.

Belinda was my biggest goal, earning 4 days attention, 3,105 stitches, beads, backstitch and tent stitch counted as half and she’s finished! I couldn’t be happier with her, and I’m pleased that half the fabric (Heaven’s fury Belfast by Under the Sea Fabrics) remains for another project. Detailed FO post is upcoming.

Secondary goal Winter Bellpull had 1.5 days regard and 2,000 stitches done on the E panel. It’s coming along and I think I’ll move this up, as a 3k goal in October because it would be nice to finish this project with ease in early December.

Fairy of the Clouds also had 1.5 days love and 2,000 stitches added. I worked mainly on the clouds to the left of the midline, but also some of the dress, particularly the purple area for a color challenge.

Now for my slow-but-steady pieces, Mickey Stained Glass had 1.5 days attention and 1,500 stitches done. I finished page 5 (middle row, middle coloumn), and started page 1 (upper left). Page 1 is less than half done, but it’s coming along and maybe a little quicker than some of the pages. (the water is just ridiculous with confetti).

St. George and Dragon had 1.5 days and 1,500 stitches done, all on the border, mostly backstitch counted as half. At least the bottom border is 2/3 complete with backstitching, and it looks great, the backstitch really brings out all the tiny details. (and they are tiny on this 36 count fabric!)

Outlander Sampler moved up in September with 2 days attention and 1,500 stitches added, mostly on the border, but also the left wing of the dragonfly and a little bit on the stones.

Finally I’d like to share a new start, since finishing Belinda, my Mira / Bella category was vacant, so I decided to start Fairy Idyll by Mirabilia on Enchanted Forest Edinburgh linen (36 count) by Under the Sea Fabrics. She received 1 day love and 900 stitches. That’s some of her arm (the peachy bit) and her gown (the yellow bit).

Last but not least, I spent a lot of time stitching smalls in September, because I was doing this Go Fish alphabet challenge with Semisane Stitchers, and I opted for the Insane version (400 st per letter or 800 to go fish/ stitch anything). The letter called had to be matched to pattern title. I did the math and figured that 400 stitches for all my wips plus 800 for all the letters I didn’t have, was well within my comfort zone. But the joke was on me, the letters did not fall off the wheel as they were spun, and some were spun repeatedly (mostly letters I didn’t have). I did manage to complete the challenge, but it was a near thing as I ran out of steam at the end of the month. So, clockwise from top left: Lighting the way (1.5 day, 400 st), Goofy Gourds (new start, 1 day, 600 st), Holiday Flair (new start, 0.25 day, 400 st), Christmas Morning (0.25 day, 300 st), Cuckoo Clock (1 day, 600 st), Nobody is Home (0.75 day, 600 st), and O Night Divine Shepherd (3 days, 1600 st).

Question of the month: Do you have any sort of record for your finished pieces? Well, keep all my records on a massive spreadsheet. I record start date, end date, pattern title and fabric. I had an album of finishes on my previous blog and I will try to set one up here, too. Also my blog serves as a historical record, I can search it and easily find how long I spent stitching a certain project, or what fabric I used.

As for October goals:

  • Primary (3k): Christmas blue angel, Poltergeist Pirates, Winter Bellpull
  • Secondry (2k): Fairy of the Clouds, Fairy Idyll
  • Tertiary (1.5k): St. George & Dragon, Mickey Stained Glass, Outlander
  • Smalls (600 st): Lighting the Way, Goofy Gourds, Nobody is Home, Cuckoo Clock, Christmas Morning, O Night Divine Shepherd
