My rotation for 2025 worked quite well. In short, I have around 3 wips each month with a 3,000 st goal each. These are things that 1) sizable, and 2) are finish goals for the quarter or the year. Then I have 2 secondary pieces, with longer term goals, for 2,000 stitch goals. Third, I have the 2 challenging / fussy pieces, which involve slow progress but they must get finished someday, so 1,500 st. Finally, I have 3-5 smalls or maybe even larger pieces with low priority, for 600 st goals. All this adds up to around 20,000 st/ month. If I didn’t have as much stitchy time, I could probably make this work by doing 1 focus, 1 secondary, etc, and/or lower stitch count goals.

I also work on a loose category based rotation, trying to incorporate my favorite designers and genres. Also, I limit large full coverage wips to 1 at a time. And now, with December finishes, a couple of my categories are empty! I need new starts for the Christmas / Winter, Fall/ Halloween, and Flora/ Fauna categories. Later in the year, I will likely need something new for History / Literature, Holiday/ Sampler, and Wild Card (anything). Here are some pieces I’m really excited about (photo credit to respective designers). For Christmas / Winter: Santa’s Gifts by Joan Elliott, Yes Virginia by Bygone Stitches, and Holly Berry Pixie by Bella Filipina

For Fall / Halloween: Sorceress by Joan Elliott, Ghool School by Glendon Place, Sir Thomas by Glendon Place

Flora / Fauna: this one is decided. Wheel of the Year by Gwen Davies & Primitive Hare, which I will work in “wedges”, throughout the year for the Semisane Calendar SAL. Also I think this piece will be fabulous for many challenges, since it has words, animals, plants, moons, and a whole lot more.

History / Literature: Camelot Sampler by Teresa Wentzler, King Arthur by Nimue, Wonderland by X’s and Oh’s.

Holiday / Sampler: many of the pieces mentioned above would qualify. This is a feature of my category based rotation, some of the categories overlap so I can shuffle things if I want to start a specific piece, sometimes.

Wild Card: another full coverage! Spring or Summer Fairy by Ruth Sanderson, Wind Moon Fairy by Nene Thomas, all by Dimensions Gold. Dimensions Gold gives a lot of value in terms of time & money for full coverage, if you ask me.

Of course, I’ll be continuing with my WIPs, more about that when I post my 2026 WIPocalypse.

  1. […] Bella Filipina chart this year, and perhaps a Nimue one. Other new start possibilities are outlined here […]
