- Pattern: Dimensions Applique Feltwork #8124
- Designed by: Todd Trainer
- Time to stitch: Just under 2 months

I had a set a deadline of mid November to finish this, so I’m super chuffed to be done before! It’s a cute design, for my baby son. This is a good kit- all the thread and sequins are presorted; the directions are pithy and clear. The designs are fully printed on the felt, which is not always the case as I’m finding out with another felt applique project- more on that later. My only complaint re: Sequined Santa is that the very small pieces (stars) tended to disintegrate as I appliqued them- there’s just not enough substance to the felt to stand up to very many needle pokes.

Oliver sure likes it! I expect that is due to the overall sparkliness of it- there are a ton of sequins that really reflect the light. Unfortunately I can’t really let him play with it- the fabric is kind of delicate, as mentioned above and the sequins would not endure much tugging. I did line the stocking with broadcloth to extend its longevity. I traced the stocking onto the fabric, folded, cut 2, allowing extra height for a top hem, and seamed together with a 3/8″ seam allowance, trim the seam allowance with pinking shears, tacked the lining to the stocking’s side seams and also blanket stitched the layers together around the top edge.

His detailed face is really cute IMO! Having this finished sure takes the pressure off for finishing the Snowman & Friends cross stitch stocking. I will finish it, but now I can have a few years of breathing room. It was the first time I’ve done felt applique in many years and it was a lot of fun, but cross stitching and sewing are still my fave hobbies.
