Celtic Autumn was a relatively easy job since I just continue in the style I established my first Celtic lady. The frame (which cost $40.12, custom cut) has a curvaceous botanical motif that reminds me of fallen leaves. The finish is antique gold with a dark patina wash, and a brighter gold edge with a bit of luminescence. The overall effect is weathered and vintage, and I love it.
I like suede mats for the Celtic ladies because I think the texture complements their dresses. I like to double mat too. The top mat is “Firelight” by Crescent Select and the inner mat is peat (dark brown) by Bainbridge, which was in my stash. I was so thrilled when I saw the Firelight suede. The color and texture are perfect for an autumn piece. Anyway, Celtic Autumn is my third framed Celtic lady and I’m hoping to start Celtic Winter in (my) blue conversion later in January.

My Mirabilias are so big, I generally do not add dimension with matting. Also I don’t think they necessarily need matting, being images of a single figure, just my opinion. Midsummer Night Fairy & Titania are sisters, the night owl, and early bird, respectively. I chose an ornate frame with floral detail sculpted along the outer edge. Titania’s frame shines with soft gold leaf, highlighting her lovely wings.

The detail on these frames is quite special. They were about $50 each, a steal for a custom cut frame so large and ornate.

Middy’s frame is same style, in cherry wood, with a deep mahogany finish, more suited to the night-time feeling this project evokes.

The finish on this wood reminds me of the forest at nighttime. Perfect!
