I felt like my WIPs were getting a little stale, so I challenged myself with a limited Mania, 4 projects x 600 st each.  

My first start was Tis the Season by Tracy Richards of Wrought Iron Stitching from JCS Christmas 2024.  I finally purchased the magazine for a really good deal (just a couple bucks) and found several pieces to “queue”, including this one.  The ornament had 600 st, on a half day.  I like the larger version too, I think it would look really cute in my breakfast room.  Then I decided I needed another BAP, so I started this Outlander sampler by Ars Orinika (etsy), with 600 st, on a half day.  My 2025 dance card is filling up, but Outlander will likely be a focus next year. 

I was perusing Australian designers and I found Fiddlesticks AU (Angela Ireland), I’ve stitched her Hobbit menu before and her design, Cross Stitch Coat of Arms, really struck my fancy.  “We stab things 1,000 times then hang them”, yes indeed!  This one is about 6″ square on 14 count, I hope I can find a small ornate frame for it.  I started it with 600 st and a half day.  On the last day of the month, I needed one more and decided it had to be spooky.  I found “No Body is Home” by Stitchsprout (Elle Noonan) in JCS Halloween 2023, and did 700 st in one day.  My WIPs pics are desaturated, but trust me, I have pretty light blue and green fabrics, respectively.

I’m glad I met my goals, but that took some effort, I tend to agonize over my choices for a new start, stash dive for fabric, second guess myself… think I prefer finishing to starting!
